Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, in collaboration with Quality Council of India (QCI), organised the National Quality Conclave 2026 on 22–23 February 2026 in New Delhi, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on quality-driven growth across sectors.
Representing the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), Mr. Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary, addressed a session on “Sharing Ecosystem Enablers in the Textile Category.”
In his address, he traced the remarkable evolution of Tiruppur’s knitwear cluster, highlighting how the organically developed ecosystem today accounts for nearly 68% of India’s total knitwear exports. He reflected on the early challenges faced by the industry and underscored how entrepreneurs collectively invested in infrastructure, sustainability measures, and capacity building — transforming Tiruppur into a globally competitive textile hub.
Mr. Duraiswamy also spoke about emerging opportunities in the textile sector, emphasising Tiruppur’s preparedness to cater to growing global demand with quality, compliance, and innovation at its core. He noted that Tiruppur stands as a benchmark model demonstrating how strong industry–community alignment can drive inclusive and phenomenal growth.
The conclave served as a significant platform for reinforcing India’s commitment to quality excellence and strengthening sectoral ecosystems to enhance global competitiveness.
