Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and Sultan Logistics have signed an agreement to develop a new logistics zone at Jeddah Islamic Port, aimed at enhancing cargo handling, storage and distribution capabilities.
The planned logistics hub will feature state-of-the-art warehousing, cold storage facilities, and integrated supply chain services to support regional and international trade. Officials said the project is expected to improve operational efficiency and attract additional freight traffic to the port.
Mawani highlighted that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to strengthen port infrastructure, support economic diversification, and boost the Kingdom’s position as a global trade gateway. Sultan Logistics will bring expertise in cargo management, transport coordination, and value-added logistics services to the project.
Industry analysts noted that the new hub could significantly reduce transit times for imports and exports, especially for perishable goods, industrial products, and e-commerce shipments. The development is also expected to create employment opportunities and stimulate investment in the surrounding region.
Both partners stated that the project will be executed in phases, with completion timelines and capacity targets to be announced in due course. The collaboration underscores the growing trend of public-private partnerships in modernising port and logistics infrastructure in the Middle East.
