The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) reported a strong increase in cargo activity across its ports in February, with total throughput rising 20.89% compared with the same month last year. The growth reflects expanding trade volumes and improved operational efficiency at the kingdom’s key maritime gateways.

According to Mawani, the increase was driven by higher container handling, bulk cargo movements, and general cargo shipments across major Saudi ports. The authority noted that continued investments in port infrastructure, digital systems, and logistics services have helped boost handling capacity and streamline cargo operations.

Industry observers say the strong performance highlights Saudi Arabia’s efforts to strengthen its logistics sector as part of its broader economic diversification plans. Mawani has been working to enhance connectivity with global shipping routes and position Saudi ports as major regional hubs for international trade.
