Adani Gangavaram Port has launched an advanced Digital Smart Gate system, a pioneering initiative described as a “DigiYatra for Ports,” marking a major milestone in the port’s digital transformation journey.

The initiative introduces fully automated, contactless gate operations across multiple critical stages of port logistics, including parking zones, entry gates, weighbridges and tarpaulin stations, enabling a seamless and technology-driven cargo movement process.

The system was inaugurated by N. Sridhar, Principal Commissioner of Customs & CGST, along with senior customs officials including R. V. Pradhamesh Bhanu, Jitendra Patel, P. M. Yashwanth, Akash Singla, N. Ravi Kumar, and J. Rajesh Kumar, along with the leadership team of Adani Gangavaram Port.

The Digital Smart Gate system integrates FASTag technology with the port’s Terminal Operating System (TOS), Port Operating System, and customer platforms, enabling seamless data exchange and improving operational transparency.

    Key Features

100% Digital Gate Operations: FASTag/RFID-based verification replaces manual checks, enabling faster and more accurate processing of vehicles.

Enhanced Security and Access Control: Entry is restricted to authorised vehicles, strengthening security at the port perimeter.

Improved Traffic Flow: Automated gate clearance and real-time vehicle tracking reduce congestion and waiting times.

Seamless Driver Experience: Drivers benefit from FASTag-enabled movement similar to highway toll gate systems.

The system also provides real-time visibility of vehicle movements, enabling automated logs, improved compliance monitoring, and enhanced safety management through integration with the port’s digital infrastructure.

By reducing manual intervention and streamlining logistics processes, the digital gate initiative is expected to minimise congestion, accelerate truck turnaround times, and improve documentation speed for customers and transport partners.

Speaking at the launch, N. Sridhar said technology-driven transformation in port operations plays a vital role in facilitating seamless trade while ensuring regulatory oversight.

“Digital initiatives such as this improve operational efficiency, enhance transparency, and create a more predictable logistics environment for importers and exporters,” he noted.

The management of Adani Gangavaram Port stated that the initiative aligns with its vision of building a future-ready port ecosystem driven by technology, efficiency and customer-centric operations.

With this development, Adani Gangavaram Port aims to set a new benchmark for automation, security and operational efficiency in India’s maritime logistics sector, positioning itself as a leader in digital innovation among Indian ports.
