India has expanded seafood export access to the European Union through sustained diplomatic and trade negotiations, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said, as exporters continue to face tariff-related challenges in the United States market.
According to Goyal, active engagement with European authorities helped India secure improved market opportunities for seafood shipments, providing exporters with an alternative growth avenue amid rising uncertainties linked to US tariff measures. The move is expected to support India’s seafood industry by diversifying export destinations and reducing dependence on a single major market.
Industry stakeholders believe stronger access to the EU market could boost demand for Indian marine products, improve export earnings, and benefit seafood processing hubs across coastal states. The development also aligns with India’s broader strategy to strengthen agri and marine exports through trade diplomacy and expanded global market access.
