Adani Vizhinjam Port has achieved a major operational milestone by handling 2 million TEUs within just 18 months of commencing operations, marking a significant step in its rapid emergence as a world-class transshipment hub.

The port has so far handled more than 950 vessels, reflecting strong growth in container traffic and increasing confidence among global shipping lines. Strategically located near the international East-West shipping corridor, Vizhinjam is steadily strengthening its position as a key gateway in global maritime trade.

Designed to handle some of the world’s largest container vessels, the deep-water port continues to attract mainline services and growing transshipment volumes. Its modern infrastructure, natural deep draft, and advanced cargo handling capabilities are enabling faster turnaround times and enhanced operational efficiency.

The milestone further reinforces Vizhinjam’s growing role in India’s maritime sector, with the port poised to become a major regional transshipment centre capable of competing with established international hubs.

With expansion plans progressing and vessel traffic continuing to rise, Adani Vizhinjam Port is positioning itself as a strategic logistics gateway for global trade and container movement in the Indian Ocean region.
