    Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, visited V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority and reviewed the Port’s major renewable energy and sustainability initiatives aimed at promoting clean and green maritime infrastructure.

    Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi was received by the Port Chairperson Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, along with senior officials of the Port Authority.

    During the visit, the MNRE Secretary toured the Port’s Green Hydrogen Plant and was briefed on the various initiatives being undertaken towards clean energy adoption, decarbonisation, and the development of sustainable maritime infrastructure. Officials highlighted the Port’s efforts to integrate renewable energy solutions into its operations as part of its long-term green transition strategy.

    The delegation also visited the EV Charging Station within the Port premises, where ongoing initiatives to support green mobility and electric vehicle infrastructure were showcased.

    Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi further inspected one of the ongoing wind energy project sites at the Port. Senior officials briefed him on the progress of the project and the Port’s continued focus on renewable energy integration to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

    The visit underscored V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority’s commitment towards sustainable growth, innovation, and environmentally responsible infrastructure development in line with India’s clean energy and maritime sustainability goals.
