Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), conducted a comprehensive review of business development initiatives along the Surat–JNPT section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), reaffirming the corporation’s commitment to strengthening rail freight infrastructure and enhancing cargo movement across the corridor.
During the visit, the Managing Director inspected key infrastructure and interacted with Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) operators, logistics stakeholders, and consultants to assess operational readiness and identify opportunities to boost freight traffic. Discussions focused on improving connectivity, optimizing terminal infrastructure, and unlocking the corridor’s full freight potential.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the Western DFC, Shri Praveen Kumar called for accelerated infrastructure development and intensified efforts to generate freight traffic. He underscored the need to shift a larger share of cargo from road to rail to reduce highway congestion, lower carbon emissions, improve logistics efficiency, and support India’s vision for a sustainable and cost-effective freight transportation network.
The review highlights DFCCIL’s continued focus on promoting multimodal logistics, strengthening rail freight connectivity, and enabling economic growth through efficient, environmentally sustainable transportation. Shri Praveen Kumar was accompanied by Shri Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (Operations & Business Development); Shri Manish Awasthi, Executive Director (Infrastructure); Shri H.G.
