DP World has committed US$1 million to Hapag-Lloyd’s Ship Green programme, reinforcing its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across global maritime supply chains. The investment supports the use of lower-emission marine fuels and advances efforts to decarbonise container shipping.

The Ship Green programme enables cargo owners and logistics partners to reduce the carbon footprint of their ocean freight by contributing to the use of sustainable alternative fuels, including biofuels. Through the initiative, participating companies can lower emissions associated with their shipments without requiring changes to existing logistics operations.

DP World’s participation reflects the growing collaboration between shipping lines, port operators and logistics providers to accelerate the maritime industry’s transition to cleaner energy. The investment also aligns with the company’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing emissions across its ports, terminals and integrated logistics network.

As demand for low-carbon transport solutions continues to grow, industry-led programmes such as Ship Green are expected to play a key role in supporting customers’ environmental goals while helping the global shipping sector move towards its long-term decarbonisation targets. The partnership underscores the increasing momentum behind collaborative initiatives aimed at making international trade more sustainable.
