The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Shantanu Thakur, during a stakeholders’ meeting at Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Gandhidham, highlighting key infrastructure and policy initiatives to support the port’s future growth.
Led by GCCI President Shri Teja Kangad, the Chamber sought phased development of new dry cargo berths, augmentation of modern cargo handling equipment, expedited construction of Oil Jetties No. 9, 10 and 11, improved internal port infrastructure, and promotion of maritime tourism under the Blue Economy initiative. GCCI also urged the Ministry to resolve the long-pending leasehold issue of the Gandhidham-Adipur township by declaring it freehold.
Responding to the representations, Shri Shantanu Thakur assured stakeholders that the Ministry would examine the proposals related to port expansion, cargo handling infrastructure, leasehold issues and other development initiatives, keeping in view the upcoming mega projects at Deendayal Port. The meeting was attended by DPA Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, MP Shri Vinod Chavda, senior port officials, GCCI office bearers and representatives of the trade and logistics community.
