V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has achieved a significant reduction in Pre-Berthing Detention (PBD) time, reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and customer-centric port services.

According to the port authority, Port Account vessels registered a 59.3 percent reduction in Pre-Berthing Detention compared to the previous year, while Non-Port Account vessels recorded a 31.5 percent reduction during the same period.

The improvement highlights the port’s continued efforts to streamline vessel handling operations, optimize berth planning, and improve overall operational efficiency. Reduced PBD enables vessels to berth sooner after arrival, leading to faster turnaround times, better berth utilization, lower waiting costs for shipping lines, and enhanced service reliability.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the port’s competitiveness by improving logistics efficiency and supporting the ease of doing business for shipping lines, exporters, importers, and other maritime stakeholders.

With sustained focus on operational improvements and service excellence, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority continues to enhance its position as one of India’s leading gateways for maritime trade, delivering faster and more efficient port operations.
