In a move aimed at accelerating container traffic growth and strengthening multimodal logistics, Sachin S. Kurve, Chairman of Chennai Port Authority, chaired a stakeholder consultation meeting alongside Gayatri, Area Head (South) of Container Corporation of India Limited.
The meeting brought together key trade partners to strengthen collaboration and identify practical measures to enhance container throughput while improving rail connectivity to and from Chennai Port. The discussions focused on simplifying trade processes, improving logistics efficiency, expanding hinterland connectivity, and introducing customer-centric initiatives to support sustainable cargo growth.
Participants also deliberated on ways to strengthen multimodal transportation, enhance rail-linked container movement, and improve the overall ease of doing business for exporters, importers, shipping lines, logistics providers, and other stakeholders.
The stakeholder consultation reflects Chennai Port Authority’s continued efforts to work closely with the trade community to build a more connected, efficient, and trade-friendly port ecosystem. By focusing on operational efficiency, seamless rail connectivity, and collaborative planning, the port aims to reinforce its position as a key gateway for India’s growing container trade while supporting the country’s logistics modernization initiatives.
