Haldia Dock Complex (HDC), a unit of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, has achieved a new operational milestone by recording its highest-ever container interchange on a single vessel, reinforcing its growing capabilities in container handling.
During the call of SITC Makassar (Voy. 2612S) on July 29–30, 2026, HDC successfully interchanged 2,583 TEUs, establishing a new all-time record for the port.
The latest achievement surpasses the previous record of 2,385 TEUs, which was set during the call of SITC Ruid (Voy. 2532S) on September 20, 2025.
The record-breaking performance highlights the collective efforts of the HDC operations team, terminal operator, shipping line, and all stakeholders, whose meticulous planning, seamless coordination, and operational efficiency made the accomplishment possible.
The milestone reflects HDC’s continued focus on enhancing productivity and strengthening its position as a key container gateway on India’s eastern coast. As container volumes continue to grow, the port remains committed to delivering reliable and efficient services to the trade.
Port officials said that every new benchmark achieved at Haldia Dock Complex reinforces the confidence of shipping lines and cargo stakeholders in the port’s ability to handle larger container volumes with world-class operational standards.
