Global shipping major CMA CGM has officially named its newest 15,000 TEU methanol-powered containership, CMA CGM ROI ARTHUR, marking another milestone in the company’s fleet renewal and decarbonization strategy.
The vessel will join the company’s REX2 service, strengthening CMA CGM’s new-generation fleet designed to support the maritime industry’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable operations. Powered by methanol, CMA CGM ROI ARTHUR is expected to significantly reduce atmospheric emissions compared to conventionally fueled vessels, reinforcing the carrier’s commitment to lowering its environmental footprint.
The naming ceremony followed longstanding maritime tradition, with the vessel welcomed by her Master, Captain Roman Didenko, and her godmother, Ms. Sun Lijun, Vice Chairman of Tianjin Bridge Welding Materials Group Co., Ltd. and Vice President of the Tianjin Women Entrepreneurs Association.
With the addition of CMA CGM ROI ARTHUR, the French shipping line continues to expand its portfolio of alternative-fuel vessels, supporting global efforts to accelerate the decarbonization of container shipping while enhancing the sustainability of its international liner services.
