SAL has expanded its heavy lift fleet with the addition of MV Mila, the first vessel in its new 14K-700-Type series, marking a significant enhancement in the company’s project cargo and heavy lift capabilities.

Designed to handle complex and oversized cargoes, the new vessel is equipped with two 350-tonne heavy lift cranes, enabling tandem lifts of up to 700 tonnes. The 14K-700-Type vessels are tailored to serve industries including energy, offshore, infrastructure, mining and industrial manufacturing, where transporting large and heavy cargo is critical.

SAL said the new series combines high lifting capacity with flexible cargo handling, allowing the vessels to efficiently transport a wide range of project cargoes while ensuring faster port turnaround times and improved operational efficiency.

Following MV Mila, three sister vessels—MV Lina, MV Hannah and MV Pia—will join the fleet, further strengthening SAL’s portfolio of modern, fuel-efficient multipurpose heavy lift vessels.

The company said the introduction of the 14K-700-Type series reinforces its commitment to providing reliable, versatile and sustainable heavy lift and project cargo transportation services across global trade routes.
