OOCL is refreshing its Verified Gross Mass (VGM) Declaration function in My OOCL Center (MOC), with the updated platform scheduled to go live on September 7, 2026.

The carrier said the refresh is designed to provide customers with a smoother and more user-friendly experience when submitting VGM information as part of their routine shipping operations.

    Updated Digital Function

The VGM Declaration function is part of OOCL’s suite of online services available through My OOCL Center. The platform enables customers to manage important shipping documentation and operational processes digitally.

The refreshed function is intended to make VGM declaration more convenient and intuitive for customers, supporting faster handling of information required for container shipments.

    Supporting VGM Compliance

VGM declarations are an important requirement in container shipping, as carriers need the verified gross mass of packed containers before loading them onto vessels.

Accurate VGM information helps shipping lines and terminals plan vessel stowage safely and comply with international container-weight requirements.

By improving the online declaration process, OOCL is seeking to simplify the administrative steps involved in submitting this information.

    Part of Wider Digitalisation

The VGM upgrade follows a series of digital improvements introduced by OOCL across its customer platforms.

In July, the carrier refreshed its cargo-tracking experience, making shipment milestones and cargo information easier to access. OOCL has also introduced digital tools such as FreightSmart, SmartDoc and its Control Tower to streamline booking, documentation, tracking and shipment management.

The latest VGM enhancement forms part of this broader effort to make routine shipping processes more digital, accessible and efficient.

    Effective September 7

OOCL customers will access the refreshed VGM Declaration function through My OOCL Center from September 7, 2026.

The update is expected to improve the day-to-day experience for shippers and logistics providers that regularly submit verified container-weight information to OOCL.
