Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has undertaken a series of health, welfare and cleanliness initiatives as part of #SwachhataHiSeva and #SwachhataPakhwada2026, reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare, community well-being and a cleaner environment.
Health check-up camps and personal hygiene workshops were organised for female Safai Mitras at Staff Club, Gopalpuri and Sarva Labour Camp, Kandla. The camps, inaugurated by Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, benefited 1,030 Safai Mitras, with 214 participants at Gopalpuri and 816 at Sarva Labour Camp. DPA’s team of doctors conducted health check-ups, distributed necessary medicines and sensitised participants on personal hygiene, preventive healthcare and overall well-being.
As part of its welfare initiatives, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh also distributed school kits comprising school bags, notebooks, pencil boxes, uniforms, shoes and socks to students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) School, Kandla, supporting their educational journey.
In another healthcare initiative, the DPA Chairman inaugurated the AMRIT Pharmacy at DPA Hospital, Port Township, Gopalpuri, providing convenient access to quality medicines for employees, pensioners, their families and other beneficiaries.
DPA Kandla also conducted intensive cleanliness drives across identified CTUs and public places in Kandla and Gandhidham. The drives covered around 12,000 sq. m., with approximately 9 tonnes of garbage removed.
Promoting environmental awareness among the younger generation, students and teachers of KV DPA organised a rally at Gopalpuri against single-use plastic. Awareness pamphlets were distributed, followed by a Swachhata-themed drawing competition for students.
Together, these initiatives highlight DPA’s efforts towards cleanliness, preventive healthcare, social welfare, environmental awareness and the dignity and well-being of the communities associated with the port.
