The India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to take effect on October 20, opening wider market access for Indian exporters and strengthening bilateral trade ties.

Under the agreement, New Zealand will provide 100% duty-free access for Indian exports, covering a broad range of products. The arrangement is expected to improve the price competitiveness of Indian goods in the New Zealand market and create new opportunities for exporters.

Key Indian export sectors, including textiles, apparel, leather, footwear, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, processed foods and agricultural products, are expected to benefit from improved tariff access.

The agreement also aims to provide greater certainty for businesses by reducing trade barriers and establishing clearer rules for bilateral commerce. Indian exporters will gain improved access to the New Zealand market, while the pact is expected to support greater investment and business cooperation between the two countries.

The FTA marks a significant step in expanding India’s network of trade agreements and strengthening economic engagement with the New Zealand market.

With implementation scheduled for October 20, exporters and businesses are expected to prepare for the new tariff arrangements and explore opportunities arising from the agreement.
