Mexico has closed several ports along its Pacific coast as Hurricane Polo moves offshore, with authorities taking precautionary measures to protect vessels, port infrastructure and coastal communities.

The closures are expected to temporarily disrupt maritime operations, including vessel movements, cargo handling and port-related logistics, particularly in areas facing the storm’s projected path.

Port authorities are monitoring weather conditions and will determine when operations can safely resume. Shipping lines, terminal operators and cargo owners may face delays as vessels adjust schedules or remain at sea until conditions improve.

The storm also poses potential risks to coastal transport and supply chains if heavy rainfall, strong winds and rough seas affect road access and port connectivity.

Authorities are urging vessels and maritime operators to follow safety instructions and remain alert to changes in the hurricane’s track. Further operational restrictions could be introduced if weather conditions deteriorate.

The duration of the disruption will depend on Hurricane Polo’s movement and the time required for ports to assess conditions and restore normal operations.
