Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed agreements to acquire a 23% stake in Conoship International, a Netherlands-based ship design and engineering company, strengthening its presence in the global shipbuilding and maritime technology sector.
The transaction will give CSL a strategic interest in Conoship and deepen cooperation between the Indian shipbuilder and the Dutch firm. Conoship is known for its expertise in ship design, engineering and development of specialised vessels.
The partnership is expected to create opportunities for both companies to combine their capabilities in ship design, engineering and construction. It could also support CSL’s efforts to expand its portfolio of technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable vessels.
For Conoship, the association with CSL provides access to India’s growing shipbuilding market and the capabilities of one of the country’s major shipyards. The collaboration could facilitate joint opportunities in international markets as demand for specialised and energy-efficient vessels increases.
The investment also aligns with India’s broader efforts to strengthen domestic shipbuilding capabilities and develop stronger international partnerships in maritime technology.
Through the proposed stake acquisition, CSL is expected to gain greater access to European ship-design expertise while supporting the development of new vessel concepts and technologies for global customers.
