The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) has sought relief under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework for MSMEs purchasing moulds, dies and patterns used in the manufacture of castings for export products.
CODISSIA said MSMEs face GST-related challenges and compliance issues when procuring these essential tools for export-oriented manufacturing. The association has sought provisions under the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) framework to provide exemption or relief for such purchases.
CODISSIA President V. Rangaswamy raised the issue during discussions with officials of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the Ministry of MSME in New Delhi. The association also submitted suggestions aimed at easing compliance and improving the business environment for MSMEs.
The representation comes as the manufacturing sector seeks measures to reduce input costs and simplify procedures for export-oriented MSME units.
