Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has expanded its air cargo operations at Lyon Airport with the opening of a new cargo facility, strengthening its handling capacity and operational presence at the French airport.

The new facility is designed to support the growing requirements of airlines, freight forwarders and other logistics customers using Lyon as an air cargo gateway. The expansion will provide additional infrastructure for cargo handling and help improve operational efficiency.

The facility is expected to handle a range of air freight shipments and support the movement of cargo through Lyon’s international network. Modern cargo-handling infrastructure can help improve shipment processing, storage and transfers between landside and airside operations.

Lyon is an important logistics centre in southeastern France, serving industrial and commercial markets across the wider Rhône-Alpes region. The airport provides connectivity to European and international destinations, making efficient cargo-handling capacity important for exporters and importers.

WFS has continued to invest in its global cargo-handling network as airlines and logistics customers seek reliable ground-handling and freight services. Its operations cover multiple airports and include cargo handling, warehousing and related aviation services.

The new Lyon facility is expected to strengthen WFS’s ability to accommodate current and future cargo volumes while providing airlines with additional handling capacity at the airport.

The investment also comes as air cargo operators focus on improving infrastructure, cargo processing and service reliability amid changing supply-chain requirements.

With the new facility now supporting operations, WFS is positioned to expand its cargo-handling capabilities at Lyon Airport and serve the region’s international air freight market more effectively.
