King Abdulaziz Port has introduced a new terminal operating system (TOS) from SGP to strengthen terminal operations and improve the efficiency of cargo handling.

The new system is designed to support the management of container movements, vessel operations, yard activities and other key terminal processes through a more integrated digital platform.

The deployment is expected to improve operational visibility and enable terminal teams to monitor cargo flows and coordinate activities more efficiently. Greater use of digital tools can also help terminals optimise equipment utilisation, reduce manual processes and improve planning.

The implementation comes as ports across the Middle East continue to invest in technology to handle growing trade volumes and meet the changing requirements of shipping lines and cargo owners.

A modern TOS can play an important role in improving productivity by connecting different operational functions and providing real-time information for decision-making. It can also support better coordination between vessel, yard and gate operations.

The introduction of SGP’s system at King Abdulaziz Port is therefore expected to contribute to the port’s wider digitalisation efforts and strengthen its ability to provide efficient services to customers.

As regional trade continues to expand, technology-led improvements in port operations are becoming increasingly important for reducing turnaround times, enhancing reliability and maintaining competitiveness.
