The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, has notified Anekollu in Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu, as an additional customs location for the unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods, through Notification No. 88/2026-Customs (N.T.), dated 28 October 2026.
The notification has been issued under Section 7(1)(aa), read with Section 7(2), of the Customs Act, 1962, further amending the principal Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.), dated 2 April 1997, which specifies locations authorised for handling import and export cargo.
Through the latest amendment, Anekollu has been included as Item (xiv) under Serial No. 11, relating to Tamil Nadu, in the table appended to the principal notification. The authorised activities cover the “unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods or any class of such goods.”
The inclusion is expected to strengthen customs infrastructure and facilitate international trade operations in Krishnagiri District and neighbouring industrial regions. The notification could also support improved cargo movement, trade connectivity and logistics efficiency for businesses engaged in export-import activities in the region.
The notification further records that the principal notification was last amended through Notification No. 83/2026-Customs (N.T.), dated 14 October 2026, published vide G.S.R. 886(E).
The amendment was published in the Official Gazette on 28 October 2026 and does not specify any separate future commencement date.
