Rail technology company Wabtec Corporation today said Siemens India Private Limited’s mobility business has placed brake system order for Rs 1,300 crore for 9000HP locomotive project for Indian Railways.
For the new line of 1,200 electric locomotives, the order will deliver enhanced operational performance, efficiency, and safety with the newest technology, according to an official release.

The locomotives will have improved dependability, fewer maintenance intervals, and essential safety features thanks to the high-performance braking system. The announcement further stated that Wabtec is a highly valued brake supplier across platforms for mainline and urban rail mobility because it already provides brake systems for other Indian Railway and metro projects.

Major subsystems including as brake systems, pantographs, couplers, air conditioning systems, and passenger access doors can be constructed by Wabtec’s Transit business in India. Technical and service assistance can be obtained from the company’s extensive engineering presence in Hosur and Bangalore.
