Sea Legend Shipping, a start-up established in February 2023, and Safetrans have announced a collaboration to enhance their service offerings, focusing on routes from the Red Sea to China and extending to Russia. The partnership has been strengthened by appointing Orient Star Logix as their agent in South Korea.
Sea Legend initiated operations in January, offering routes connecting China with Turkey via the Red Sea, a strategic move to fill the void left by mainline operators who altered their routes due to security concerns. The company’s fleet, comprising 10 vessels, benefits from the escort of the Chinese navy and serves a comprehensive list of ports including Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Nansha, Port Klang, Aden, Djibouti, Jeddah, Sokhna, Aqaba, Port Said, Abu Qir, El Dekheila, and Istanbul.
The vessels, such as SFT Saudi and OVP Taurus, are under the ownership of Safetrans and OVP Shipping, entities that pivoted to Russia amidst the geopolitical tensions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, Sea Legend and Safetrans are exploring the inclusion of Busan in their network, aiming for direct connections with the Red Sea under the protection of the Chinese navy from early April.
