Michelin India has laid the foundation stone for a new tyre manufacturing facility in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, with an investment of ₹563.67 crore. The expansion is part of Michelin’s efforts to boost production capacity for passenger car tyres at its existing plant.

Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, TRB Rajaa, participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony and highlighted the significance of Michelin’s decision to reinvest in the state. He remarked that Michelin’s choice reflects its trust in Tamil Nadu’s business environment and the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin.

The new plant will be developed based on Industry 5.0 principles, focusing on advanced sustainability practices. It will integrate cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and automation to optimise production and increase efficiency. According to Rajaa, this facility will rank among Michelin’s top plants globally.

Michelin’s expansion is expected to not only strengthen its presence in India but also contribute to Tamil Nadu’s standing as a key manufacturing hub in the country.

The development underscores Tamil Nadu’s growing appeal to global industry leaders and aligns with the state’s vision of fostering innovation in the manufacturing sector. The facility will further enhance the state’s economy and provide a significant boost to the local workforce.

As the tyre industry continues to evolve with technological advancements, this investment reaffirms Michelin’s commitment to sustainable and efficient manufacturing solutions, keeping India at the forefront of its global operations.
