Kazakhstan’s Air Astana is setting the stage for new journeys with flights to India on the Almaty-Mumbai route, media reports via Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport.
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is actively engaged in enhancing flight networks and augmenting the frequency of services on established routes.
In a strategic move to enhance tourism, Air Astana will commence operations on the Almaty-Mumbai route beginning April 20 of this year. The operations will be conducted thrice weekly utilizing Airbus jets. The total weekly passenger flight frequency between the two nations will rise to 21, utilizing four air routes operated by three carriers.
Currently, regular air connections include Almaty-Delhi (operated by Air Astana and IndiGo, with 7 flights per week each), Almaty-Goa (operated by SCAT, with 2 flights per week), and Astana-Goa (operated by Fly Arystan, with 2 flights per week). The launch of these new flights will further enhance trade, economic, business, and tourism cooperation between Kazakhstan and India.
Air Astana, founded in late 2001, made its inaugural flight on May 15, 2002, with President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Sir Richard Evans representing the two shareholders, the Government of Kazakhstan and BAE Systems PLC of the UK. The government’s Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund owns 51 percent and BAE Systems PLC 49 percent, remaining loyal partners. EASA Part 145 accreditation ensures Air Astana’s fleet maintenance meets EASA standards. Air Astana renewed its EASA Third Country Operators (TCO) license in March 2019 with no findings and is a Part 147 Training Organization. The airline passed the International Air Transport Association’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for the 8th time in May 2021, demonstrating its safety commitment.
