    Assam Inland Waterways Company Ltd. (AIWCL) and Bharat A to Z Pvt. Ltd. have signed a Shareholder Agreement for the formation of Assam Shipyard Pvt. Ltd. (ASPL) on October 6, 2026.

    ASPL will function as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for establishing a shipyard facility in Assam. The project is being taken forward in accordance with the approval of the Hon’ble Cabinet.

    For the proposed shipyard, AIWCL will provide 10.33 acres of land on a 60-year lease, extendable by another 30 years. The facility is expected to strengthen Assam’s shipbuilding and inland waterway ecosystem and support the development of maritime infrastructure in the region.
