Ambuja Cements Limited has firmed up its next phase of expansion, announcing a major greenfield and brownfield investment programme of approximately ₹14,500 crore to add around 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of cement manufacturing capacity across key markets in eastern, western and northern India.
The expansion programme will cover Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, strengthening the company’s manufacturing footprint and supporting growing cement demand across these regions.
The proposed expansion will build on Ambuja Cements’ existing pan-India cement capacity of 113.5 MTPA, comprising 24 integrated plants and 24 grinding units. With the planned additions, the company aims to increase its total cement manufacturing capacity to 155 MTPA by FY2030.
As part of its ongoing capacity enhancement programme, Ambuja Cements commissioned 4.6 MTPA of additional capacity during the first half of FY27. A further 5.6 MTPA is expected to be commissioned or ramped up during the second half of FY27.
These additions are expected to take the company’s total cement capacity to approximately 119 MTPA by March 2027.
The latest expansion underscores Ambuja Cements’ focus on scaling up manufacturing capacity, strengthening regional market presence and positioning itself to capitalise on India’s growing infrastructure, housing and construction demand.
