    The government of Andhra Pradesh is set to roll out the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone on June 1, marking a significant step in strengthening rail infrastructure and administrative efficiency in the region.

    Announced by a senior state minister, the new zone will be carved out of existing railway divisions to improve operational management and enhance connectivity across key districts. The move is expected to streamline freight and passenger services while supporting the state’s growing logistics and industrial needs.

    The South Coast Railway zone will primarily cover strategically important routes, including port-linked corridors, boosting cargo movement and reducing transit times. Officials believe the initiative will play a crucial role in improving evacuation of goods from major ports and industrial clusters.

    The formation of the new zone aligns with broader efforts by Indian Railways to decentralise operations and enhance service delivery. It is also expected to generate employment opportunities and drive regional economic development.

    With the June 1 launch date confirmed, preparations are underway to ensure a smooth transition, including infrastructure readiness and administrative restructuring, as the new zone begins operations.
