Following its recent service extension to cover the Red Sea, Turkey’s Arkas Line is to add ports in India to its container shipping network.

The new service, called India Med Service (IMS), will start operations on February 10th this year, with Arkas deploying four vessels, with capacities ranging from 2,500 to 2,800 TEU. There are understood to be plans to add a fifth vessel from June.

Ports of call will include Ambarli, Evyap, Aliaga and Mersin in Turkey; the Red Sea ports of Aqaba and Jeddah; and now NhavaSheva and Mundra in India. By making use of rail connections from the ports of Mundra and Nhava Sheva, the company says it will also be able to service key trade centres in the inland regions of India.
