India’s civil aviation sector is likely to attract investment of Rs 98,000 crore over the next few years timeframe, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel has said.
“Capex plan of Rs 98,000 crore has been lined up for the aviation sector for the coming 3-4 years,” he said, speaking at the Infra Leadership Summit 2023.
He also said the government is working on making Delhi International Airport as India’s first international hub for air connectivity from India to the rest of the world.
Speaking at the same event, Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways said cruise services for tourism have seen significant growth in India since 2014 , and Hydrogen hubs are being developed at Indian ports as part of the country’s green eergy initiatives.
Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, who was also speaking at the event, said the government has developed a scientific database system for the infrastructure sector.
He also said drinking water connectivity projects for schools are being being envisaged to be implemented under the PM Gati Shakti initiative.
Also speaking at the summit was Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti. Asserting that ground water is critical to India’s growth story and its management is a priority for the government, he said water availability for for development purposes can be improved if we improve its management in the agriculture sector.
