Barcelona Mærsk, the sixth and final vessel in the 17,480 TEU dual-fuel vessel series, has officially joined the fleet, marking an important milestone in the company’s new-generation shipbuilding programme.

The vessel has been built in collaboration with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Everllence, reflecting a strong partnership focused on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. Designed with dual-fuel capability, Barcelona Mærsk supports the company’s long-term commitment to reducing emissions and advancing greener maritime operations.

The naming ceremony was held in Ulsan, South Korea, where the vessel was name-given by Berit Andersen, Senior Communications Advisor for the Fleet Management & Technology team. The event was attended by the ship’s crew, the on-site project team, and key partners from the shipyard, making it a memorable occasion for all involved.

With the induction of Barcelona Mærsk, the entire series of 17,480 TEU dual-fuel vessels is now complete, further strengthening the fleet with modern, energy-efficient tonnage and reinforcing the company’s focus on sustainable growth in global shipping.
