A new cargo terminal at Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to begin operations by August or September, marking a significant step in strengthening air cargo infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. The upcoming facility is expected to support regional trade, boost exports, and improve cargo connectivity for industries across the state.

Officials associated with the airport project said work on the cargo infrastructure is progressing steadily, with preparations underway to operationalise cargo handling services in the coming months. The terminal is expected to cater to a range of commodities, including pharmaceuticals, seafood, perishables, textiles, electronics, and e-commerce shipments.

Industry stakeholders believe the launch of cargo operations at Bhogapuram Airport will reduce dependence on distant air cargo gateways and improve logistics efficiency for exporters and importers in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring regions. Faster access to air freight services is also expected to benefit time-sensitive and high-value cargo segments.

The airport project is being positioned as a major aviation and logistics hub aimed at supporting regional economic growth and attracting investment into manufacturing and export-oriented industries. Improved multimodal connectivity through road and port infrastructure is also expected to enhance the airport’s long-term cargo potential.

Once operational, the cargo terminal is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s air freight network and create new opportunities for domestic and international cargo movement.
