Blue Dart Express Limited has marked 30 years of aviation operations, a milestone that underscores its position as a leading player in India’s time-definite express logistics sector. The achievement highlights the company’s long-standing commitment to providing fast, reliable and seamless air express services across the country.
Since launching its aviation operations in 1996, Blue Dart has built a robust air cargo network that has become a cornerstone of its integrated logistics infrastructure. The dedicated air express capability has enabled the company to support critical industries such as life sciences, banking and financial services, manufacturing, automobiles, e-commerce, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), while enhancing supply chain resilience nationwide.
Over the past three decades, Blue Dart’s aviation network has facilitated more than 215,000 flights and transported over 2.05 million tonnes of air cargo. The company attributed this success to the efforts of its pilots, engineers, operations personnel, safety and security teams, and other support staff who have maintained high service standards throughout the years.
The aviation network also played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the timely transportation of vaccines, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other essential medical supplies across India.
Commenting on the milestone, Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart Express Limited, said the company’s aviation capability has been instrumental in delivering next-day and under-24-hour shipment commitments, strengthening the speed, reliability and certainty that customers associate with the Blue Dart brand.
Capt. Nikhil B. Ved, Managing Director of Blue Dart Aviation Limited, said the 30-year journey has been defined by operational excellence, safety, trusted partnerships and a strong customer focus. He added that the company remains committed to expanding capabilities, embracing technology and building a future-ready aviation network to support India’s evolving logistics requirements.
Today, Blue Dart operates a dedicated fleet of eight Boeing 737 and 757 cargo freighters, which form a vital component of its integrated logistics network. The fleet supports the movement of millions of shipments annually and provides connectivity between metropolitan centres and emerging growth markets.
As it enters its fourth decade of aviation operations, Blue Dart plans to further strengthen network resilience, improve operational efficiency, leverage automation and technology, and contribute to the continued growth of India’s logistics and air cargo ecosystem.
