The Port of Montreal is delighted by the recent announcement from Transport Canada regarding funding exceeding US$1.9 million through the National Trade Corridors Fund.
These grants support two projects aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency through the utilization of innovative technological solutions, thereby bolstering Canadian trade corridors.
Close to US$1.9 million is being allocated to Montreal’s Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (CIRANO) to establish a center for data science and knowledge transfer focused on trade and intermodal transportation within St. Lawrence—Great Lakes corridor.
This initiative forms a pivotal part of CIRANO’s endeavours in leveraging data science for trade and intermodal transport. The project is scheduled to commence on 21 March at the CIRANO & Transport Canada symposium, bringing together researchers, partners, and stakeholders from the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes region.
According to a statement, up to US$37,100 is earmarked for CargoM to implement an automated tool for identifying available indoor and outdoor storage space in Greater Montreal. This endeavour is poised to significantly enhance the management of the port territory and streamline the movement of goods in the vicinity of the Port of Montreal.
