    INS Visakhapatnam on rescuing the US cargo vessel M V Genco Picardy, which was attacked by Houthi drones in the Gulf of Aden while en route from Egypt to India. The incident happened on January 17.

    After receiving a distress call, INS Visakhapatnam quickly intercepted the ship. Twenty-two people, including nine Indians, were on board the merchant ship M V Genco Picardy. No one was hurt. The resulting fire was brought under control.

    On the morning of January 18, experts from INS Visakhapatnam inspected the ship to assess the extent of the incident. After a thorough examination, transportation was arranged. Officials also informed that the ship is now continuing its journey under the escort of INS Visakhapatnam.
