Central Railway has crossed the ₹3,400-crore mark in freight revenue, supported by strong growth in the transportation of coal and automobiles.

The railway zone has continued to strengthen its freight business by focusing on higher cargo volumes and improving the efficiency of freight movement across its network. Coal remains a major contributor to freight earnings, while automobile transportation has also recorded significant activity.

The increase in freight revenue highlights the growing role of rail transport in moving bulk commodities and finished vehicles across the region. Higher rail freight volumes also support efforts to shift more cargo from road to rail, helping improve supply-chain efficiency and reduce logistics costs.

Automobile transportation has emerged as an important segment for Central Railway, with rail services providing manufacturers and logistics operators with an efficient option for moving vehicles to different markets.

Central Railway has also been working to improve freight-handling infrastructure, streamline operations and attract additional commodities to the rail network. These measures are aimed at increasing freight capacity and supporting sustained revenue growth.

The ₹3,400-crore milestone underscores the contribution of freight operations to Central Railway’s overall financial performance and reflects continued demand for rail-based cargo transportation.
