Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its technology and digital engineering operations in India with the launch of a new centre in Chennai, strengthening the logistics company’s technology capabilities in the country.

The new facility is expected to support the development and deployment of digital solutions for Kuehne+Nagel’s global logistics operations. It will focus on areas including technology engineering, digital platforms, automation and data-driven solutions.

Chennai’s established technology ecosystem and availability of skilled engineering talent make it an important location for the company’s digital expansion. The new centre will enable Kuehne+Nagel to tap into local technology expertise while supporting its wider global operations.

Digitalisation has become increasingly important across the logistics sector as companies invest in technologies to improve shipment visibility, automate processes and enhance supply-chain efficiency. Cloud platforms, data analytics, artificial intelligence and automation are being increasingly integrated into freight and logistics operations.

The Chennai centre is expected to work with Kuehne+Nagel’s technology teams across different markets, contributing to digital products and solutions used by customers and internal operations.

India has emerged as an important technology and shared-services base for global logistics companies, supported by its large pool of engineering and technology professionals. Kuehne+Nagel’s latest investment adds to the company’s technology footprint in the country.

The expansion also reflects the growing role of technology in the logistics industry, where digital capabilities are being used to improve operational visibility, customer experience and supply-chain management.
