China’s international shipping association Silk Road Maritime has added 16 new international ship routes, bringing the total routes to 116 calling 131 ports worldwide.
The 16 new shipping routes mainly cover the Chinese ports of Liaoning, Tianjin, Shandong, Shanghai, Zhejiang,Guangzhou, Beibu Gulf and Xiamen.
Additionally, thirteen international organizations and enterprises including Piraeus Port Authority, Ghana Ports & Harbors Authority, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping, Shenzhen Port Group, Zhejiang Haigang Investment and Operation Group, and Aliyun etc. also joined the association, lifting the total member number of association to 317.
Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of Fujian Provincial Committee said, the “Silk Road Maritime” will make effort to develop the Belt and Road Initiative, and will further upgrade cooperation platforms and offer more supportive policies.”
According to the association, Silk Road Maritime operates 12,096 freight vessels, facilitating over 14 million standard container movements as the end of August.
