Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate intervention to protect the state’s industries and workforce from the impact of impending U.S. tariffs.

In his letter, Stalin expressed concern that sectors such as textiles, leather, and auto components — which form the backbone of Tamil Nadu’s export economy — could face severe setbacks if additional tariffs come into effect. He warned that the move could result in significant job losses and hurt thousands of small and medium enterprises dependent on global trade.

The Chief Minister urged the Centre to take up the matter diplomatically with Washington and provide relief measures to safeguard exporters and workers in the state.
