CMA CGM has announced a reorganisation of its container service network connecting India and East Africa, aiming to enhance schedule reliability and improve transit times across the trade lane.

The revised network is expected to optimise port rotations and vessel deployment between key Indian gateways and major East African ports. The move comes amid steady growth in bilateral trade, particularly in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, engineering goods and agricultural commodities.

Industry sources said the adjustments are designed to streamline operations, reduce port congestion impacts and offer customers more predictable sailing schedules. The reshuffle may also involve changes in vessel sizes and frequency to better align with cargo demand patterns.

India’s exports to East Africa have seen sustained momentum, while imports of commodities such as pulses, timber and minerals continue to support two-way trade. Shipping lines have been fine-tuning their services to remain competitive and manage operational costs amid fluctuating freight rates.

CMA CGM noted that the network changes will provide enhanced connectivity options and improved cargo flow efficiency for shippers operating between the two regions. Updated schedules and service details are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks.

The reorganisation reflects broader efforts by global carriers to recalibrate routes and capacity deployment in response to evolving trade dynamics and regional growth opportunities.
