Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) organised ‘PARIVATAN’, a conclave focused on the indigenisation of marine valves and pumps, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, at Taj Vivanta in Coimbatore.
The conclave brought together industry experts and key stakeholders from the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), shipyards, classification societies, the Indian Navy, CODISSIA, the Indian Valves Manufacturers Association (IVAMA), and leading pump and valve manufacturers.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the significant business opportunities emerging from demand aggregation initiatives in the marine sector for government projects. It also provided a platform for Indian manufacturers to discuss the challenges they face in developing indigenous marine equipment and explore collaborative solutions.
Discussions during the conclave focused on identifying policy interventions required from the Government and classification societies to foster a more enabling ecosystem for domestic manufacturing of critical marine components.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047, which aims to position India among the world’s top five shipbuilding nations by 2047 through enhanced self-reliance, indigenous manufacturing, and a stronger domestic maritime supply chain.
