Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has commenced bulk cement loading through its specialized tank containers at UltraTech Cement’s siding in Sedam, marking another significant step towards promoting sustainable and efficient freight transportation.

The initiative facilitates the movement of bulk cement by rail to DRTA, leveraging containerized logistics solutions designed to enhance operational efficiency while reducing the environmental impact of cargo transportation.

By shifting bulk cement movement from road to rail-based containerized transport, the project is expected to ease road congestion, lower carbon emissions, minimize product losses during transit, and improve overall supply chain performance. The use of dedicated tank containers also ensures safer handling of bulk cement and enhances reliability across the logistics chain.

Industry stakeholders view the deployment as an important development in advancing greener logistics practices within the cement sector. Rail-based transportation offers a more sustainable alternative for bulk commodity movement and aligns with broader efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial supply chains.

The initiative underscores CONCOR’s continued focus on providing innovative multimodal logistics solutions while supporting the industry’s commitment to operational efficiency, environmental responsibility, and sustainable growth.
