Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful operation of an EXIM container rake from its CFS at Milavattan in Tuticorin.

In collaboration with global shipping major Hapag-Lloyd, the inaugural movement transported 90 TEUs (20-foot containers) from Tuticorin to the Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Tondiarpet in Chennai. The initiative marks a major step toward enhancing rail-based cargo connectivity between southern ports and key inland hubs.

The development is expected to streamline cargo evacuation from Tuticorin, offering exporters and importers a more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solution. By shifting more cargo to rail, the move also supports decongestion of road networks and improves overall supply chain efficiency.

Following this successful run, CONCOR plans to scale up rail operations from Tuticorin, reinforcing its commitment to expanding multimodal logistics solutions and facilitating seamless EXIM trade.

The launch underscores CONCOR Tuticorin’s focus on delivering simplified and customer-centric logistics services, further strengthening its role in India’s growing maritime and trade ecosystem.
