Container Corporation of India Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Venkatesh Coke & Power Ltd. for the operation of a Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) facility in Chennai. The agreement was formally executed on March 13, 2026, in New Delhi.
The collaboration marks a strategic step toward strengthening multimodal logistics infrastructure and improving cargo handling capabilities in the Chennai region. By leveraging CONCOR’s expertise in containerized logistics and VCPL’s operational capabilities, the FTWZ facility is expected to support more efficient storage, consolidation, and distribution of cargo linked to international trade.
The initiative aims to streamline logistics processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance supply chain efficiency for exporters and importers operating through the Chennai gateway. Industry stakeholders believe the development will also contribute to improved trade facilitation, supporting the continued expansion of the region’s logistics and maritime ecosystem.
Once operational, the FTWZ facility is expected to play an important role in strengthening Chennai’s position as a key logistics and trade hub in southern India.
