In a significant milestone for logistics infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) at Naya Raipur successfully handled its first railway rake, marking the beginning of rail-based cargo operations at the facility.

The rake, consisting of 58 BOXN wagons, arrived at CCMH (MMLP Naya Raipur) carrying 3,180 metric tonnes of aluminium ingots and aluminium wire rods from the SCPM – NALCO Smelter and Captive Power Plant at Budhapank, Odisha.

The development represents an important step toward strengthening multimodal logistics connectivity in the region. With the commencement of rail handling operations, industries in Chhattisgarh and neighbouring states can now leverage the advanced infrastructure at MMLP Naya Raipur for efficient, large-scale cargo movement through rail.

The facility, operated by Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), is designed to integrate road and rail transport, enabling faster cargo movement, improved supply chain efficiency and reduced logistics costs.

Industry stakeholders believe the successful handling of the first rake will pave the way for increased cargo volumes and encourage greater use of rail-based freight solutions, further enhancing the logistics ecosystem in central India.

The milestone also underscores the growing role of multimodal logistics parks in strengthening India’s freight network and supporting industrial growth through improved connectivity and streamlined cargo operations.
