COSCO Shipping Lines and OOCL have expanded their global service networks with the launch of a new China–Jeddah container service, strengthening maritime connectivity between Asia and Saudi Arabia.
The new service is designed to provide more efficient shipping options for cargo moving between major Chinese ports and Jeddah Islamic Port, one of the Middle East’s key trade gateways. The route will support growing trade flows between China and Saudi Arabia, covering a wide range of containerized goods including consumer products, industrial equipment, electronics and raw materials.
By adding Jeddah to their China network, COSCO and OOCL aim to improve service coverage in the Red Sea region and provide customers with enhanced schedule flexibility and supply chain reliability. The new connection is expected to strengthen links between Chinese manufacturing centers and Saudi Arabia’s expanding industrial and commercial markets.
The service expansion comes as trade between China and the Middle East continues to grow, driven by infrastructure projects, energy sector cooperation, manufacturing investment and rising consumer demand. Efficient container connections are becoming increasingly important as businesses seek reliable transport solutions across global supply chains.
COSCO and OOCL have been actively optimizing their networks through new routes, service upgrades and strategic port coverage to respond to changing trade patterns. The addition of Jeddah reflects the carriers’ focus on expanding their presence in emerging markets and strengthening Asia–Middle East logistics corridors.
Jeddah Islamic Port plays a central role in Saudi Arabia’s maritime trade strategy, serving as a major gateway for imports and exports along the Red Sea. Improved connectivity with Chinese ports is expected to support faster cargo movement and provide businesses with additional options for international trade.
