Singapore-based container shipping line CULines is set to launch its new SBS Service in October 2026, establishing a direct service connection between Port Klang and Kolkata.
The new service will leverage Port Klang as a key transshipment hub, strengthening Kolkata’s connectivity with CULines’ wider network across Intra-Asia, the Middle East and the Red Sea.
Through the SBS Service, cargo originating from major ports in China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia will be able to connect to Kolkata through CULines’ existing regional network.
The service will also enhance westbound export connectivity from Kolkata, allowing cargo to be transshipped via Port Klang and connected onward to CULines’ services serving the Middle East and Red Sea markets.
CULines said the new connection is aimed at providing customers with more flexible and reliable routing options by integrating regional services and bringing its wider network closer to the Kolkata market.
The launch further strengthens Kolkata’s role in regional container trade connectivity, while offering exporters and importers additional routing options through Port Klang.
